ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

HONIG, شمس & DE L’OR is a powerful monodrama inspired by Hector Malot’s classic novel Sans famille. This free adaptation, written by Yasser Abu Shakra and brought to life by Syrian actor and director Rémi Sarmini, intertwines literature with a deeply personal story of migration, loss, and resilience.

The play draws parallels between the journey of Rémi, the novel’s protagonist—a found child sold to a wandering showman—and Rémi Sarmini’s own escape from war-torn Syria in 2016. Through a multilingual performance blending theater, mapping, and storytelling, the artist navigates themes of displacement, identity, and the search for belonging.
